WOMAN FOR ALL SEASONS



Mary Alphonsus Kennedy, RSM, of the New Jersey Regional Community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, was honored as “A Woman For All Seasons,” at the Homecoming for the alumnae of Mt. St. Mary Academy in Watchung, New Jersey, on October 23, 2005.

A Diamond Jubilarian, Sister M. Alphonsus is an alumna of Mt. St. Mary Academy, and she taught classes at the Academy for 20 years.  She also served as Assistant Principal of Holy Spirit High School in Absecon, New Jersey, and she was Director of the Evening Division at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, New Jersey.

In 1985, she returned to Mt. St. Mary Academy as Director of Development and Alumnae, and she is presently archivist for the Academy.

Proud of her 40 years of service to Mt. St. Mary Academy, she commented: “For 97 years, Mt. St. Mary Academy has continued to embrace Catherine McAuley’s special belief in women’s education, women’s equality, and women as leaders.”
