EXEMPLARY SERVICE

Catholic Charities, Diocese of Camden, announced the creation of four permanent awards to recognize achievements of those who have actively and diligently pursued social justice throughout the six counties of the diocese.

The first annual JUSTICE FOR ALL AWARD will be given to Grace Nolan, RSM, at a dinner and ceremony on April 29, 2004. Another award, THE SISTER GRACE NOLAN AWARD FOR SOCIAL MINISTRY, named for Sister Grace, the enduring and standard-setting coordinator of Catholic Charities’ services to the poor of Atlantic county, will also be made at this dinner.

In addition, Sister Grace has also been chosen by the Camden Diocese Pro-Life Office to receive the PROCLAIMER OF LIFE AWARD, recognizing her dedication to pro-life issues, at the second annual Hope For Life Dinner on May 6.

Director of Catholic Social Services in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Sister Grace holds degrees from Georgian Court College and Villanova University. During the 1960’s Sister Grace served as principal of two schools in the diocese, St. John’s School, Collingswood, and Holy Spirit, Atlantic City. She joined Catholic Social Services in 1970 and has been the recipient of many diocesan awards, as well as professional and business awards in Atlantic County.

In 2002, Sister Grace received the Cross Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Award. Her latest award for distinguished service was made by the Kiwanis Club in 2003.
